Monday Confessional

angry outbreak monkey

I got the sickness. The people at my office had it, now I got it. Why do people come to work when they are sick? Stay home people, keep your filthy germs at home with you, rest up then come back when your better. Instead they come in and like a little outbreak monkey spread the sickness to everyone. Bah. What sucks is that this sickness seems to be some sort of lung thing, which means that riding my bike to work is now harder. I seem to be avoiding the snot, which is a small comfort, as I hate the snot, but I have mild fever, and maybe some sort of hack developing. I have spent the weekend drinking water and eating vegetables.

So far so good. Fight little white blood cells, fight hard! Surprisingly going for a bike ride seems to temporarily rid me of the hack, as I seem to cough up most of the nasty during the ride. Bicycles have magic healing properties. I predict this sickness to be a weak one, this is the first time I have gotten sick in almost two years. I am strong and the sickness, it is weak.

In other news it has finally achieved a winter like temperature outside. I thought it was going to be really hard adapting to the cold, but I seem to have done so quickly. For anyone interested in my winterizing technique as regards to cold air riding it is as follows. Long sleeve t-shirt, then normal t-shirt, hoodie, then army jacket. Jeans, with one leg rolled up a bit. This seems to provide a nice balance between breath-ability and warmth. Oh and a pair of gloves, to keep the fingers warm. I have the kind that are like mittens but you can take the mitten part and fold it back to reveal fingerless gloves. I use the mittens at the start, and when I heat up switch to the fingerless gloves (helps with working the breaks, and lets my fingers cool off).

It is important not to over bundle, as you will be making a lot of heat. Don’t want to suffer heat stroke in the middle of winter (the irony!). I think of it as “turning on the furnace.” I don’t know if anyone else feels this way, but after a certain amount of time I can feel the warmth spread up over my face and down my arms, and suddenly I am simply not cold anymore. This is the part I like as I stop freezing my ass off and start feeling really good.

I have been really busy at work lately and as such have had less time to post stories on the site (you will notice a lot of short ones too). This should change as things are cooling down a bit at work. Other than that things have been going well. Boston is an interesting city and I have started to find some nice places to eat, and don’t get lost as much as I used to. All in all things are ok. Do you know anything cool in Boston I should be checking out? If so drop a comment.
