Long-time energy advocate Harvey Wasserman is featured speaker at an August 20 forum cosponsored by CIRenew, Falmouth Climate Action Team, Upper Cape Cod Green Party, and the Falmouth Anti-War Vigil. His talk, “Winning a Totally Green-Powered Earth: Transcending Fossil Fuel & Nuclear Power,” is free and open to the public. The event is on Thursday, August 20, 2009, from 7 – 8:30 pm, at the Old Fire Station (adjacent to Woods Hole Community Hall) on Water Street in Woods Hole.

An award-winning activist and enthusiastic speaker, Mr. Wasserman will discuss energy-related opportunities to remake the economy, end waste and war, and address climate change. Based on core beliefs, life experiences, and published works, he will ask attendees if they are ready to pursue a “Solartopia” of sustainability and prosperity by accelerating the transition to efficiency and renewable energy and abolishing fossil fuels and nuclear power while guaranteeing democracy, empowering women and minorities, and reinventing the corporation.

Mr. Wasserman is a journalist, author, democracy activist, advocate for renewable energy, and teacher. A featured guest on Today, Nightline, National Public Radio, CNN, and other major media outlets, his recently published energy-related works include Solartopia!: Our Green-Powered Earth AD 2030 (2006); Harvesting Wind Energy as a Cash Crop: a Guide to Local-Owned Wind Power (2002); and The Last Energy War: the Battle over Utility Deregulation (2000).
