George Carlin On Global Warmin

Be aware George Carlin knows how to say “bad words”.

George Carlin famously said, “Think of how stupid the average person is, and realize half of them are stupider than that”

He makes a very funny and correct point, people we are not trying to save the planet…we are trying to save ourselves! The planet is going to be here if we stay or go, natural selection will make sure anything left alive will adapt and thrive, we however may wish we had kept the place a little more hospitable to the way we humans liked it. Not too hot, not too cold, not covered in pollution, you know that kind of thing.

  1. As much as I admire George Carlin’s eulogies, this one is only stating a fact; it is not stating the strength of the “save ourselves” argument, the lead question which is simply stated as:

“If a tree falls in the forest, does it matter if no one is there to be affected by it?”

In my opinion, no it doesn’t. With Industrialized humans gone yes, the Earth will be in a far better ecological state, but why should it matter – surely nothing can matter to us if we are not there, and all human questions, by their nature, have to be addressed from a human point of view. We are not birds, or fish or trees, we are humans and cannot pretend otherwise. This is not a selfish viewpoint; it is the only viewpoint we have.

    K.
