Discover the efforts that have gone on for the past 20 years that have led to the restoration of this valuable resource. Representative Patrick, a founding member of the Citizen’s for the Protection of
Waquoit Bay, was instrumental in the state purchase and preservation of land along the Quashnet River. Fran Smith explains the project that he and his group have worked on for two decades to restore the river habitat and bring back the native brook trout that once thrived there. These successful efforts have led to the tagging of more than 400 brook trout in the past year. This will help researchers determine migration patterns within the river and bay, which will aid in the restoration.
