House Committee On Global Warming Hearing Tomorrow

house of reps

From our good friends over at PowerOfWind.org

As you know, we scored a historic victory in August when the House of Representatives, for the first time, voted in favor of a national Renewable Electricity Standard (RES) requiring electricity utilities to obtain 15% of their electricity supply from renewable energy and energy efficiency by the year 2020.

We couldn’t have made this happen without your help. But the fight isn’t over yet…and we’ll need your continued support.

The House energy bill, which contains the RES, is different from the energy bill passed by the Senate, which did not contain an RES, earlier this year. This means that a House-Senate “conference committee” will need to iron out the differences between the two bills, and then the compromise developed by the committee will need to pass both the House and Senate and be signed by the President to become law.

On Thursday, September 20 at 9 a.m. EST, the House Select Committee on Energy Independence and Global Warming is holding a hearing to discuss the RES.

Should be interesting to see what they are going to do. It’s not to late to call and let your Rep, know that you want them to fight for a future free of the dangers of runaway global warming.
