Monday Confessional

Through the magic of scheduled posting I am actually at work, as I post this blog. Pretty neat huh. Today is my first day in the office at my new job. I will be in charge of rolling out a very sweet online community (much like The Sietch, but with a social justice theme). It is going to be really cool, and I am really looking forward to getting started. The heat that Boston has been suffering under for the last couple of days seems to have let up a bit, and it is a pleasant 67 right now. Starting a new job can be scary, and I am a bit nervous, but not about the work. I am pretty good at geeky web stuff, and if there is something I don’t know I can look it up, what really scares me is the T. I get lost, all the time. I get lost going down streets I have been down a thousand times, I get lost walking a few blocks from my home, I get lost everywhere all the time. I am lost so often that I one could say I am never lost (it’s very zen think about it for a while).

The T scares me because if you get lost you end up god knows where. I don’t want to be late my first day because I went to the wrong city, or missed my stop. With this in mind I have been “practicing” going to work on the T. Tess went to school here in Boston, so I made her come with me and walk me through the first time. I should be OK, as I just have to get one one train and then get off at one stop, and that’s it…but I have gotten lost with easier directions. I will let you know how it turns out.

In other Sietch News I am proud to say that some time late Saturday night or early Sunday morning, we got our 100,000th unique visitor this month. Thank you to everyone that visits, especially those who take the time to comment. You are what make this website worth all the time and effort. I can only hope that each of you are taking what you learn here and making the world a little better :) We got close to the 100k unique visitor mark last month, and we have been experiencing steady growth in traffic, and I thought we might make it over the mark this month, but I never thought it would happen so fast! I have no idea if 100k unique visitors is “a lot” in terms of websites but it seems like a nice round number to brag about, the entire first year we were around I think we might have gotten 20k visitors.

In still other Sietch news MySietch is in what I am calling “limited” open testing now. Most of the bugs have been worked out and I am officially setting it free for all of you to start testing and playing around with. If you don’t know MySietch is a way for you to get your own blog, free of charge, to blog to your hearts content. We are constantly rolling out new features and you can even monetize your blog and make money off of your blog entries. To get your own blog, go here and click on the start new blog button. Happy blogging.
