If you already have a backpack that you like, or don’t like the design of some other solar backpacks, you can now easily turn any pack into a solar pack with the Mana Solar Claw.
This gadget allows you to grab 6 watts of Mana from heaven, enough to charge your cellphone, GPS, Ipod, or other little gadgets. Installation is quicker than you can say 40 years in the desert. I have to admit I like this design. I usually think most gadgets are a waste of time/money/resources. But this design will allow you to keep the backpack you already have (saving money and resources) while adding a useful survival and convenience of having battery recharge capability no matter where you run off to (assuming its not a cave).
It also offers these features
– 6 Watt Solar Panel
– CIGS Solar Cells (Same used in Nasa Space Technology)
– Charges: Cell Phones, Digital Cameras, LCD TV’s, Camcorders, MP3 Players and GPS Units
– Rugged Flexible Solar Cells (Use by the Military)
– Durable Hi-Tenacity Rip Stop Nylon
– Multiple Compartments for digital gear
– Close Cell Padded Laptop Compartment
– Bartac Stitched Reinforced Stress Regions
– Top Grade Nylon Webbing
– Duraflex Buckles
– YKK Zippers
You could easily use this panel on any sort of bag or backpack, want a solar briefcase, done. How about a solar bike basket, done. Solar t-shirt, done. I imagine with a little thinking one could just wear the panel itself (might be uncomfortable) and be a solar human. Either way this guy will charge up all your little gizmos, and do-dads. At 6 watts your looking at a couple hours for a cell phone, but if your trapped in the middle of nowhere and your GPS unit runs out of batteries, you will want a way to charge it.
It costs $275 which is not really that bad considering the cost of solar cells. If you are interested you can pick one up here.
