Of All The Dumb S#it – Carbon Debits To Offset Al Gores Carbon Offsets

Seriously What the hell.

On a Mission – Taking Away Al Gore’s Carbon Credits…
We are on a mission to take away every one of Al Gore’s meaningless carbon credits by simply providing carbon debits. Help us make this dream a reality by purchasing one of the packages below. Don’t let Al Gore assuage his guilt with meaningless penance, heap it back on with carbon debits – every one of which we will let him know about.

Do We Really Kill Trees?
The short answer is “Yes”. We run a burgeoning business of clearing trees from grasslands so the Antelope won’t be scared. As silly as that previous sentence sounds it is the truth. So, you can have a clear conscience that you removed a terror inducing tree in an effort to improve the antelope state of mind – which makes them better targets during hunting season. Although we don’t completely follow the logic of the game and fish department on this, we go along with it.

After looking the site over for a while I, in the words of a wise Internet user, “see what you did there.”

These guys are either right wingers who want to make a quick buck, or people who have to clear these trees anyway, and want to make a quick buck.

They offer several packages, the most offensive being the…

look mom I am dooming us to extinction, ain’t that fun?

Either way its stupid.

Its not always bad to cut down trees, especially if you are restoring grassland habitat. Something I myself have done. These people are playing into the “anything Al Gore does is evil” stereotype that pervades the right wing of America. The really sad thing is that global warming doesn’t care if you are a liberal or a conservative its going to mess you up either way. To repeat, human caused climate change, global warming, whatever you want to call it, IS NOT a political issue. Rising oceans lift all ships.

  1. I thought this was satire.

Personally I find the overuse of carbon offsets potentially one of the biggest dangers we face. It is guilt shedding. Maybe these guys are onto something, and I bet the schemes don’t really exist.

  2. In the UK an awareness is growing that what used to be called ‘charity’ is now reconfiguated as a carbon offset. Most charities to third-world countries are being asked to deal in ‘carbon credits’ when the donations are large. It is a good way for businesses to deal with the problems they have of gradually reducing their carbon emissions (though I think taxes would be better). It is NOT a good way for a travel agent to make you feel better about your airline ticket.
