Day 117:
Trump is either stupid or working for the other side:
There is no way around it, Trump is either the dumbest president we have ever had (what is it with the GOP, first Regan, then George W. Now Trump…) or he is doing this shit on purpose. Recently he allowed Russia’s top spies into the oval office with all of their spy equipment and let them take propaganda pictures for the Russian state run media.
Putin is a murderous tyrant, and while the American press was kept out, Russian press was allowed to take chummy pictures for their state run TV. Just think about that for a moment, US press was pushed out, while Russia’s top spies had full run of the oval office while taking propaganda pictures with Trump. A scandal that would have gotten Obama crucified. It gets worse.
We don’t need to worry about the Russian’s planting bugs in the oval office, because apprently they are not needed. Trump just fucking told them top secret information involving intelligence on Islamic State.
The information the president relayed had been provided by a U.S. partner through an intelligence-sharing arrangement considered so sensitive that details have been withheld from allies and tightly restricted even within the U.S. government, officials said.
The partner had not given the United States permission to share the material with Russia, and officials said Trump’s decision to do so endangers cooperation from an ally that has access to the inner workings of the Islamic State. After Trump’s meeting, senior White House officials took steps to contain the damage, placing calls to the CIA and the National Security Agency.
“This is code-word information,” said a U.S. official familiar with the matter, using terminology that refers to one of the highest classification levels used by American spy agencies. Trump “revealed more information to the Russian ambassador than we have shared with our own allies.” (via)
That sounds an awful lot like Treason to me, add it to obstructing justice, bribery, violating the emoluments clause, a host of other small crimes, being a general asshole and embarrassment. Trump has got to go.
While technically the president can declassify just about anything, that doesn’t mean that you just blurt out shit to an adversarial nation’s top spy. Trump is monumentally incompetent. He is going to accidentally tweet the nuclear codes or brag about how many spies we have. Impeachment Now!
I am beginning to believe that the modern republican and democratic party are actually a couple of dancers. They both dance to the same music (big money donations), but they have different dance moves. When a republican is president their job is to destroy things, stir things up, pass blatant corporate friendly laws, remove regulation, and in general make the country hate them. Then a democrat comes in, fixes the economy, still keeps everything corporation friendly, but calms the country down. All while keeping the rich getting richer, and the poor getting screwed. They dance round and round since 78, every year the middle class shrinks, and the super wealthy get richer. This is a song that has to end.
Don’t get me wrong, this isn’t some vast conspiracy with dark smokey rooms full of evil masterminds, but instead the natural outcome of the way in which the system is set up. In the same way that a bunch of dumb ants can create a complex society by simply following the rules, the current system produces these emergent effects.
Which means you have to attack the system that we currently have, not individual members of it. Trump, Hillary, Obama, Bush, they all bubbled to the top of the pile because the sorting rules for that pile are wrong. Trump is not the reason, he is the symptom of the illness.
We need a strong progressive agenda. We need to structurally change the way things work. The money has to stop going to the very top, and the shit has to stop raining down on the very bottom.
15 dollar minimum wage, pay equity for women, medicare single payer for all, paid family leave, free day care for working families, free public college, investments in renewable energy and infrastructure, ending the many wars we are currently in, 100% carbon free energy system, re-investment in diplomacy, re-introducing strong bank regulations that keep them from gambling with our money.
All of this paid for by taxing large corporations and the super rich. By ending loopholes that allow companies that make billions here pay no taxes. By increasing the marginal tax rate for billionaires, and by introducing fees on high frequency trading, and by dramatically reducing our war budget. I advocate for taking from the rich, and investing in the poor. I advocate for changing the rules of the game so that instead of corporate raiders, and bumbling idiots rising to the top, we get real change for real people.
