I never understood why BP was using so much dispersant, it seems like they are only interested in keeping the visual impact of the spill out of the public eye. Dispersant doesn’t make the oil go away, it just breaks it down into small pieces.

And now it would seem the use of a toxic chemical to break up the oil has even more long term effects than the oil itself.
