Hull has gotten a new wind turbine. Say hello to a shiny new Vestas V80 1.8 Megawatt beauty.
The new turbine will produce 5 million kWhs every year, enough energy for 750 homes, or 20 percent of the cities power, offsetting 3000 tons of CO2 (stats from here and here) all pictures by Richard Lawrence.
My friend and co-worker Richard who works for Cape and Islands Self Reliance, was lucky enough to be there during the installation and took a lot of really good pictures.
Hulls two turbines are part of a larger trend of medium scale land based turbines in New England. The new IBEW turbine in Boston, and the new Mass. Maritime turbine on Cape Cod make nice neighbors for the new Hull 2. Now if we can just get a few hundred more.
