What we have basically backed ourselves into in this country is a parliamentary style, “you need to have the super majority” to get anything done requirement, without the “everyone votes the same way” parliamentary system of voting. The end result is the republicans force everything to have more than 60 votes, and I wouldn’t be surprised if the Democrats do the same if they lose the majority. Nothing at all gets done, and everything is fucked.

I can only hope that on issues like health care, global warming, and green jobs they can overcome this idiocy and get something accomplished before the climate is too screwed for us to survive.
