Monday Confessional

Say hello to the newest sawyer on the block (that would be me). I am learning how to chainsaw (again). It’s going swimmingly. We are learning the game of logging method, by the good people at Northeast Woodland Training, specifically Dave Birdsall who is amazing.

The game of logging is by far the best method I have ever used to drop a tree. It’s so clean and neat and safe. For first time sawyer’s its an amazing introduction the world of using a chainsaw, and for experienced loggers it will improve and refine the skills you already have. This method is not only safe, but will increase board-feet per tree.

In other news I am looking forward to some well spent time relaxing with Tess in NH. It should be a good time, we will climb mountains, tell stories, and relax. I have not been able to see her in a long time so its going to be fun. I expect to spend the Thanksgiving glut fest full of pie (pumpkin that is.) I am also going to be running in the “turkey trot” that is code word for “horrible 4 mile run up hills and such” or “how I stopped worrying and learned to love the knee pain.”

Life is going pretty well at this point.
