As the only person charged with the 9/11 attack Moussaoui has been given life in prison. I have always had a problem with the Moussaoui trial. It’s not that I don’t think he is a bad guy, because clearly he is. Its just that we all had a collective freak out after 9/11.

We created the PATRIOT ACT and homeland security, increased defense spending by Billions, restructured the FBI, CIA and the rest of the alphabet soup, and the only person we can find that we are charging with a crime is this guy?

Clearly he is crazy, and I do not mean sneaky evil crazy, I mean needs pills maybe therapy crazy. He is also clearly stupid, and perhaps a little retarded, I don’t point this out because I am trying to demean retarded people, simply as a fact. Also he seems to have had a most horrific childhood.

So after spending billions of dollars we sweep up an obvious dullard and potential schizophrenic. All of our billions of dollars and years of effort get us at best a bumbling henchman. Where are the leaders, where is Osama, where is the rest of the people we see showing videos on the internet. Why isn’t Osama bin laden sitting on trial right now?

I can only conclude that all the Billions have been wasted. Moussaoui seems to have been an attempt to produce the sacrificial lamb, someone to throw to the crowd. And now even that has not worked. I am against the death penalty and I am glad that this jury had the sense to realize that Moussaoui had little or nothing to do with 9/11.

Trying to give Moussaoui the death penalty for telling a lie that lead to the deaths of people seems to open a lot of people up to the death penalty. Every car company that makes cars that explode and knew that a certain percent would, or tobacco executives that pay to have studies to show smoking is good for you, or manufacturers that knowingly make chew toys with lead paint on them. The list would go on and on.

Moussaoui displays most clearly the failure of the Bush administration to do anything substantive about the problem of global terror. Billions of dollars, and thousands of soldiers lives seem to have been spent in vain. If a pathetic insane person is all we get for that price tag, I say we are the victims of fraud.
