Delay has finally fucked up bad enough that they have thrown him out. Delay has stepped down as leader and the repugs are now going to try and find someone, anyone, not up to their eyes in scandal to lead the house. This is going to be harder than it might sound. a lot of republicans are in trouble right now.
When House Republicans pick a new majority leader next month to replace embattled Rep. Tom DeLay of Texas, they will try to put behind them the lobbying and campaign finance scandals that could threaten their majority in this year’s elections.
The best part is now all the power hungry old white guys are going to be busy stepping on each others backs in a bid for this prime spot. Lets hope they sink real low and sling a lot of mud. Hell they might even help us find out some horrible stuff we have yet to stumble upon. Then they will have torn each other up so much that the democrats can regain the house.
DeLay’s announcement Saturday that he will not seek reinstatement in the majority leader’s post has triggered a scramble among members of his caucus. House Republican conference rules required DeLay to relinquish the job in November when he was indicted in Texas on charges of violating campaign finance laws.
But even if they dont start tattling on each other Abramoff might do it for them.
DeLay faces mounting legal and political problems: In Texas, he’s battling charges that he funneled illegal corporate contributions into state legislative campaigns. In Washington, lobbyist Jack Abramoff, his longtime friend, has agreed to cooperate with a federal investigation into charges that lobbyists were trading lavish perks for favors from members of Congress.
