“You ride your bike to work?”
“Yup, its awesome!”
“What do you do when it rains?”
“I get wet.”
Thats about it. It rained like crazy this morning, and I got drenched to the bone. It was fun and I had a great ride. Being that it was Columbus day (our office doesn’t celebrate that holiday and I now have a floating holiday I can use when I want, nifty) I mostly had the roads to my wet self. There is something simple and refreshing about getting drenched in the rain. So long as you are ready for it. I brought dry cloths and a towel in my backpack and had everything wrapped up in a plastic bag for dryness. The few people on the road looked at me like I was crazy, but I didn’t care.
Things have been going well with this whole “living in the big city” thing I am trying. I think sometimes I miss the trees, and the nature that I used to enjoy every day. Trees have a kind of simple elegance that you just don’t get with buildings. I am however living a much more environmentally friendly lifestyle now. I live in a much smaller home, have not put gas in my car for a month and a half, and generally use less resources to maintain my lifestyle. It is also pretty cool that there is stuff to do after 9pm if I was so inclined to go out and do it, something I will be working on as I spend more time here.
So far this experiment is going well. We will see how it turns out.
