  1. I agree. I really do not see how this is any different or any worse for that matter than having Senators and Representatives being paid millions of dollars by Big Oil.

  2. If those e-mails and the snowfall in Houston don’t convince you that Global Warming is a fraud, I’m sure nothing will. It amazes me that people are so obtuse as you seem to be. If it weren’t for free laborers like you, the great con men of the environmental racket would have to find honest work. I’m going to burn some tires in your honor. Maybe I’ll invite some friends over and call it a summit.

  3. it was 70 degrees in Boston two days ago…so I guess your snow in Houston science is counteracted by mine.

Stick to theories of Atlantis and leave the future of humanity to the rest of us…

  4. Yep, those emails (which I have read) really convince me it’s one big fraud, Patricius. Here’s what I wrote on DeSmogBlog:

I would rather not use the opinions of WSJ as they have a history of climate change denial, so instead I would recommend their (albeit selective) page of raw emails:

    http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052748704779704574553652849094482.html

The problem here is that they are all out of context. Granted, the people involved have been monumentally stupid in using certain phrases, and (undoubtedly) suggesting hiding data, but without the entire threads of conversation it’s pretty difficult to know the basis on which the phrases were used. Don’t forget there is an ongoing, and very nasty battle going on between the industry-sponsored (and government approved) denial position, and a load of scientists who are trying to be as objective as possible. How would you feel if for every peer-reviewed article you produced there were 100 articles that had not gone through the same rigours taking the opposite position, mostly in tabloid newspapers and on astroturf web sites?

I would be pretty pissed off, and very defensive. In fact I would probably develop a bit of a siege mentality, which is what the emails seem to be suggesting. In essence, the people named in the emails are trying to make sure there is nothing at all that the denialists can use against them that is not in the public domain: **remember that most observations are actually publically available, so if the denialists wanted to create their own opposing data sets and models then they could easily do so, but they are conspicuously absent.**

The emails look bad, but the raw data hasn’t changed, and so the outcomes remain the same.

    Nothing more to add.

  5. 70 degrees in Boston in the fall is not at all that portentious of Global Warming. Snow in Houston, though, is really something unusual, since it may snow there once in a century.
One more thing: It isn’t the denialists who have been getting the grants of vast sums of money to propagate this Global Warming Hysteria. No, it’s the baloney makers at PU and UoEA and NASA and elsewhere who are banking big time for doing it.
Global Warming is the Titanic of scams and it just hit an iceberg of truth. The smartest rats are jumping ship now.

  6. Yes because ONE day of snow in Houston must mean that Global Warming is false. Global Warming is the increase in average temperatures. Let me explain averages for those that are not good with the math.

‘an average, central tendency of a data set is a measure of the “middle” or “expected” value of the data set.’

Which means that there will be values above and below. So you will get days in Boston that are 70 and days in Houston that are 30 with snow. One day does not really effect the average by very much at all.

  7. It is hard to predict what the weather will be one week from now. Weather prediction is a probability game and the farther out in time one goes the more of a game it becomes.
Those of you who believe the Global Warming have no bases for your belief other than the propaganda of an hysteria mongering politician/movie maker, some Hollywood celebrities, and some obviously corrupted scientists and of course corrupt media, e.g. The New York Times. Rush Limbaugh puts it best: “They live in a universe of lies.”
You go believing the nonsense, I’ll go on burning carbon.
By the way, did any of you know that wind farms cause climate change? How can you take energy out of the atmosphere and not know that?

  8. …and by conflating weather with climate, Patricius, you just lost the debate entirely.

(and by mentioning Rush Limbaugh as a credible source, you just let the pigs loose in the sky :-) )

  9. Keith:

Patricius is what we call a troll, a poorly informed one at that. Am i the only one who noticed that his website is about Atlantis….

He would like us to take him seriously, but in every way he appears to be a joke.

I can only hope that his fantasy world protects him from the very real results of his carbon burning.

  10. Keith,
Climate is defined as the composite or generally prevailing weather conditions of a region. So climate change is the change in prevailing weather conditions. So therefore I lose the debate because I conflate climate and weather? There is no logic in your claim. And Limbaugh isn’t a credible source? Why? Because you say so?

    And Naib,
I made my thesis simple so that simple people could understand it. I ‘m a real scientist and I’m not on the dole like your climate scientists. If you think my website is a joke, laugh all you like; It’s not going to bother me, because I know that neither you nor the phonies at CRU can confute it.

  11. Naive, er I mean Naib,
My website about Atlantis is real science and history (not that you would know either); it’s not a joke, nor a hoax, nor a ruse, like your AGW obviously is. By the way, Dallas,Texas had its first white Christmas in 80 years, the fourth in over160.
Dallas has an interesting history. It was originally a socialist utopian community called La Reunuion founded by Belgian, Swiss, and French socialists. After a few years, it failed because no society can exists where most everyones sole talent is spouting socialist jibberish. All that remains of them is in a small cemetery near the remains of Clyde Barrow, an infamous criminal.

  12. Why are people so desperate for Atlantis to exist? Maybe it is a way of making up for everything they feel has been lost in the rush for money and material goods.

Anyway, at least I can see you have a sense of humour.

  13. Keithf,

Originally my thesis was about Eden, Ararat, and the Great Flood, but after years of dejection I decided to dumb it down. I don’t think I can dumb it down more.
