Not quite the image the title put in your head I imagine.
A grassroots group, YellowPagesGoesGreen, has started collecting signatures to end delivery of those annoying phone books that are quite unwanted by most households. I think I easily got eight within the first year of living in my Gloucester apartment. Visit their website if you agree that in this internet age it is time to put an end to this hefty waste of tree pulp! They have some great links to other similar groups and pages such as the government’s do not call registry website.

Thanks again to the MassRecycle listserv!
I hate getting these stupid things. I find it hard to believe, well not hard but amazing that people even use these things. When you can do a search on the internet and find what you are looking for in like a tenth of the time it would take you to get out the Yellow Pages, find the category you are looking for and then the company you are looking for.
These go from my porch to my recycle bin, they never even make it more than 5 steps in to my house, from the front door to the garage door, recycle bin!
I guess personally I would be amazed if this works. Have you guys ever seen the people that deliver these? I am not knocking the people, but they drive down my street with a giant trailer stacked with these things. I would be honestly amazed if they were checking addresses to see if certain households have opt out.
Regardless, I put my name on the list so we will see.
