We are soon to be the proud citizens of an Obama-nation. And the message is:
This victory alone is not the change we seek. It is only the chance for us to make that change. And that cannot happen if we go back to the way things were.
It can’t happen without you, without a new spirit of service, a new spirit of sacrifice.
In this upcoming season of thankfulness and charity, use it as an opportunity to form a new habit, one of service, one of support. Find an organization or group that provides a service that interests you. There are many opportunities to help our neighbors ranging from providing assistance to the elderly, gathering non-perishables for a food pantry, or fixing up a community playground.
We may now be the most educated generation to grow up from a country that started from farmers and patriots. “Yes we can” be the first to reinvigorate our communities through our selfless sharing of our talents. January is not far off, so make sure to be ready for this year’s MLK Day of Service event near you.
