Really?! I see something like this and I think to myself, “Either the world has gone mad, or I am taking crazy pills!” This has got to be the stupidest bit of backwards logic ever. Am I the only one that realizes that driving vehicles LIKE HUMMERS helps to cause and make worse the kind of weather shown in this clip? Here is an idea, scrap the hummer, drive an bicycle, and when the hurricane comes evacuate with everyone else. What do you think?

driving a hummer causes wildfires and earthquakes?
I don’t think hummers cause earthquakes (other than the mini-ones as it rolls by) , but global warming does cause forest fires, and global warming is caused by burning lots and lots of fossil fuels, something the hummer does very well.
Lets just hope that it’s meant sarcasticly, considering the “Crooks & Liars” logo at the end (never heard of them tough).
But, I have to say, this could start a viscious circle.
Everyone takes a Hummer, weathers goes bad, everyone takes a “better” Hummer, etc, etc…
My message to them:
“Hummer has become the laughing stock of anyone who has any knowledge at all of climate change. Hummer Helps is both the most hilarious and the most savage piece of irony I have ever seen – you tear the planet apart by spewing out carbon dioxide, then the last remaining people in Hummers ring-fence the shattered planet for themselves. That’s your plan, right?
“And don’t give me any “we are responsible” bullshit. You know you want to kill the planet because money is more important than life. You know that money is more important than life. Isn’t it? If not then what are these adverts for?
“But when civilization collapses, it won’t be the Hummer owners singing victory – what will they use for fuel? No, it will be people who understand the Earth, and know how to live with it that will be dancing on the memories of the selfish millions. I hope you know that. I hope you are pleased with yourselves.”
I don’t know why everyone is so mad at the “Hummers”… give me a break. Don’t vehicles as a whole only contribute something like 18% of the C02 emmissions worldwide? Buildings contribute around 40%. So instead of bashing the SUV’s you should probably focus your angst on urban sprawl. It’s funny because a Hummer gets something like 14 mpg city… similar to many other poorly performing SUV’s. But this is still only 3 mpg worse than some of the BEST performing SUV’s. If you’re going to hate on the hummer you better be hating on the Ford Ranger 4WD, Mazda B4000, Mercedes-Benz G 55, and the GMC Savana as well. I’m glad your mini cooper get’s 23 mpg, but if you drive it twice as much as my Hummer, BIG DEAL. You are the real El Nino.
So let me see if I can wrap my head around your logic, because some other cars are bad for the environment, your car which is also bad for the environment is OK? Sorry you lost me some place.
I’m pretty sure ALL cars are bad for the environment. And at no point did I say a Hummer is OK because it gets 14 mpg. I was just stating the obvious fact that many other vehicles are equally BAD. In addition, I was making it clear that it doesn’t matter WHAT you drive… all the matters is HOW MUCH you drive it.
P.S. I don’t actually drive a Hummer… I am just tired of people with less than accurate information bashing them . Like I said before… buildings produce MUCH more CO2 than vehicles, so bash the guy with the 5,000 sq. ft. house in the suburb. You know what else burns lots of fossil fuel… Coal power plants. You should focus on the big problems instead of crying about all the SUV’s.
All I can say is that there is a weird shamelessness to some marketing execs.
If you market a badly polluting car then you are responsible for its impact. If you buy a badly polluting car then you are responsible for its impact. If you support the system that allows the marketing and buying of badly polluting cars then you are responsible for their impact.
Don’t be part of the system. Simple as that.
I am a hurricane Katrina survivor/refugee, whatever the you want to call me but I was trapped in a house with water forcing itself in at an alarming rate of about 5 feet an hour and I have to say that AT NO F*CKING POINT did I see any F*CKING Hummers coming to save me.
I don’t care what you drive, I mean I have no respect for anyone driving a 12 passenger vehicle by themselves, but what I am saying is don’t you dare use a national tragedy as a freaking ad campaign. I mean Jesus Christ, did Boeing do any ads about how it wasn’t their jets to fly into the world trade center? I think it’s tragic and sick.
