So the last couple of solar gadgets I have covered have been, well just too damn useful. The original idea of the early morning solar gadget piece was to sort of poke fun at the wasteful nature of most gadgets. Even if you power then with the sun most gadgets are either useless, or designed to break and be replaced in a couple of months. Well have no fear today we firmly return to the useless crap column of the solar gadget ledger.
First up these pretty but rather useless solar orbs.
Of cource this lovely little gem Hammacher and Schlemmer

The Place Anywhere Outdoor Solar Orb Light.
This solar-powered 10″ diameter orb light may be staked into the ground, floated in a pool, or set upon a table, to provide bright illumination for driveways, walkways, pool areas, or patios, eliminating the need to alter your landscape by digging trenches for wiring. The globes steel ground stake may be removed easily from the aluminum base, allowing you to set the globe onto a table; the globe is watertight and may be set onto a pool or pond. The sturdy translucent plastic globe conceals a solar panel that recharges an internal battery to power two bright LEDs which slowly turn blue, pink, red, and green. Removing the globe allows the panel to collect solar energy during the day, and at night when replaced, its photo-sensor detects darkness and automatically turns on to provide up to eight hours of light (turns off at dawn).
You know I can see how those orbs “might” be useful as decoration, you know to pretty up the joint. However our next gadget just seems to boggle my mind.
ladies and gentlemen I present the solar powered floating alligator head.

Be the first in your neighborhood to have this wacky solar product. The Swamp Eyes Solar Alligator is a very lifelike and lightweight gator that can float around your pond or pool.
The solar panel on his nose charge up the internal batteries and when the sun goes down his eyes glow like a live gator when hit by light!
Environmentally-friendly deterrent wards off fish-eating birds geese, herons, egrets, ducks and small animals without harm – day and night!
I have mine in the garden to help keep critters away. Looks so incredibly real floating in a pond -it’s a little scary!
Measures 10″ long, 9″ wide, 9″ high
I am sorry but after a week or two, birds will be landing on this thing to rest while they eat your fish and bath in your pond. The only thing this guy is gonna scare off is maybe some foolish humans.
