This weekend was amazing. I got to see Tess this sunday, which made my whole week. She is doing great, and is working very hard at law school. We went out to a nice Indian resturaunt, and made truffles. I have never made truffles before and found it a wonderful way to spend the morning, not only that but I went ice skating AGAIN! Thats more than once a year so far that I have been ice skating. Tess is a much better skater than myself and she takes good care of me and makes sure I don’t run over small children.
Today was hard and man am I beat. By beat I mean litterly beaten. Today was a good hard working type day. I spent the bulk of my monday removing invasive Autume Olive trees from what will soon by a restored grassland area. This involves cutting the tree, dragging the tree, throwing the tree into a giant pile, rince and repeat. The best part about nasty plants is they tend to grow in groups. So the autome olive (a rather harmless tree) grows with a lot of multiflora rose, a nasty nasty thorned beast that has torn me into hamburger. But no worries we removed it all today. The project is step one in returning an open field to a grassland habitat. This will provide habitate for birds, as well as provide a place for people to come and enjoy nature. Its a tough job but someone has got to do it.
More pictures after the fold.
