If you can’t make it to the Massachusetts State House tomorrow, you can still participate!
We are asking people across Massachusetts to call Verizon and the Department of Telecommunications and Energy (DTE) anytime tomorrow. Ideally calls will be made between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Thursday, November 16, but you can call before or after these times and leave a message.
Here is the call-in information:
Verizon: 1-800-483-3000
Confirm your phone number and wait for a representative to answer. Then tell Verizon, “I’m calling to demand that Verizon stop releasing my phone records to the government.”
DTE: 617-305-3540
Ask for Janice Tatarka (Director of Consumer Affairs and Business Regulation). Then tell her, “I’m calling to demand a public hearing to let us know if the phone companies violated their own privacy policies, and you must take concrete steps to make sure that our privacy is protected in the future.”
Thank you in advance for your help. Please let me know if you have any questions, and I’d love to hear about any interesting responses you get.
