No Discrimination In The Constitution: Contact Your State Legislators Today!

For people who live in Massachusetts.

Tomorrow — Thursday, November 9 — Massachusetts legislators vote on a proposed constitutional amendment to repeal marriage rights for same sex couples. This amendment would enshrine discrimination in the state constitution and could easily pass.

Please contact your state representative and state senator today and tell them to stop this amendment now.

We’ve got to show that we care about protecting marriage equality at least as much as our opponents want to take it away.

Even if you have already contacted your legislators, they need to hear from you again today. Even if they are completely supportive, they need to hear from you now. We cannot afford to be apathetic — or be perceived to be apathetic. Please take action today and urge your friends and family members to do the same.

Call your legislators and deliver the strongest possible message. Tell them that this discriminatory amendment must be defeated THIS YEAR. Tell them that fundamental rights that protect families should NEVER be put up for a popular vote and that all of us who support equality must act to stop this amendment NOW.

Please visit http://www.MassEquality.org/action/voted.php to find out how your legislators have voted in the past and get their phone numbers.

In addition to calling, please take an additional minute to email your legislator.

You can also show your support for marriage equality by coming to the State House on Thursday. The Constitutional Convention begins at 1:00 p.m. Plan on arriving a few hours early to ensure you get in. It’s important to show our support for legislators who are facing intense pressure to vote against equality.
