Day 406:
Robber Barrons
Every time Exxon pays off a politician to deny global warming people die. Same is true for pollution from pesticides, dirty cars, NRA guns etc. Look how big pharma kills folks by raising prices on drugs, by pushing Oxy, by pushing people off insurance. All facilitated and allowed because of payoffs to congress. Look at all the suicides from bankruptcy from medical debt, or from bank crashes.
Just because these companies dont go out and nerve gas people doesn’t mean that they are not killing people. Although sometimes they do actually go kill people, just usually in other countries, or they have our military do it, or the CIA. Read your history better. A lot of what our government does is to secure the interests of big companies in other countries.
The right wing doesn’t want to unify the working class, they want to keep it fractured, so they are busy fighting over guns, gays, and god, while the super rich turn into the mega rich. Its a very old, and well tested strategy in America that has been used many times with many groups.
We have had extreme concentration of wealth before, it was called the gilded age, and it required strong government intervention to prevent the break down of society (the new deal). This is not a new problem, just the current version of it.
