They get a shit load of criticism from the crazy nut jobs in their own party (1 2 3). I don’t know how to make this any more clear, science is NOT A POLITICAL ISSUE. It doesn’t matter what you “feel” the future should be, physics and chemistry couldn’t give two shits. The fact that republicans have pegged the parties political success on denying science (evolution, global warming, etc) seems to indicate that they don’t wish to be a political party in the future….the real problem is of course that they are still just under half of the people running this country. Doomed…maybe, but not if we vote them out of office. In fact we shouldn’t be voting for ANYONE that denies science, liberal conservative, whatever. If they don’t go by science we go right past there name on the ballot to someone that does.
