Same Sex Marriage Support, Only A Matter Of Time

Dear old people, stop being homophobic assholes.

Seven states cross the 50% mark overall as of our current estimates, but the generation gap is huge. If policy were set by state-by-state majorities of those 65 or older, none would allow same-sex marriage. If policy were set by those under 30, only 12 states would not allow-same-sex marriage.

It is only a matter of time before the older homophobes die off and equality comes to America. If you want to go down as a generation of bigots…by all means continue to vote against equality, but the trend is clear, when the kids grow up the gays will be married.

  1. It’s interesting that New England (plus New York) claim the top 7 spots. It’s pretty obvious though that the south would end up being at the bottom of this chart. I do find it interesting also that states that border other states don’t appear to influence each other as much, but I may be used to it as living on the border of New York and Vermont people in my home town tend to have jobs in Vermont and others family… some Vermonters even own houses over here and a few my friends had most of their family over there. I guess in the end it’s all about the bonds between the people within the states and with those outside the states, not so much the borders.

  2. It’s just a matter of time before the homophobic old people die off? Or perhaps, the younger generation will realize there are some things as morals and that there are some things that are intrinsically wrong as human beings.

What’s amazing to me as how gay and lesbians shout from the rooftops about how I’m imposing my morals on them. But I never walk into a room and shout “HEY I”M HETROSEXUAL!” I don’t flaunt it in the way I talk, walk, act or anything. I don’t have a problem with their way of life and the choices they have, but why are they forcing their morality on me?

So if I want to be a child molester, is that wrong? Why? Why are you forcing your morals on me? Same arugment, slightly different degree.

A couple of things, first are you saying that being gay and being a child molester are the same in your eyes, or even different points on the same scale!? If so I am not sure you understand what being gay or lesbian is. Gay or lesbians are two CONSENSUAL ADULTS in a CONSENSUAL relationship….see how that’s completely and totally different than molestation?

You do flaunt your heterosexuality, all the laws are set up for you, all the movies are about you, all the tv shows, the assumptions, the entire world is hetero-normative. No one is trying to make you be gay, only that gay and lesbian people want the right to wed the people they love.

I would love to hear a logical argument for why two guys or two girls in a consensual loving marriage is wrong? What harm does it do to straight people’s unions? Logic is different than “my magic book of god talk told me it was wrong” by the way.

I would suggest you seek out some gay or lesbian people and make friends with them, you might soon be changing your point of view.

  4. Naib,

Please consider that, when you describe gay people marrying each other as being the moral equivalent of child molestation, you *very seriously* insult people who have actually been attacked by child molesters. We do not appreciate the suggestion that we are the victims of nothing worse than a type of romance you disapprove of.

Please find a way to express your opinions without trivializing a very serious and destructive crime.
