This is just a bit of fun after my rainy ride to work today.
From Crackle:
The thing is that the bike wins for the entire time, meaning that for short and long distances the bike is always going to be your best friend, you should also realize that these people love cars, they LOVE THEM, they are not going to be fair to any other mode of transport but fossil fuel based transport. Also who rides their bike like that guy? He is not having a good time, and not “doing it” right. Seriously.
(hat tip to Collin)
Also one fact to consider the fact that Hammond isn’t used to riding a bycicle and that London isn’t designed to handle bycicles. Which is quite obvious by the shared traffic lights with normal cars and the lack of sufficient cycleways.
In my city I can easily beat a car through the city center at the leisurly speed of 16 a 18km/h (10-11mph). Thanks to the cycleways and the priority cyclist get at traffic lights.
Busses also kick the cars ass in my city. They have their own lanes and priority traffic lights (if a bus is detected everything else gets a red traffic light). And thanks to that most of the time you see busses roaring across intersections without even slowing down.
Although I prefer the bycicle on short/medium trips, nothing is as fast as it in the city. :)
The second video is no longer available. Looks interesting though… :-)
