  2. Very interesting indeed. I wish I was as articulate about the benefits of RE as he is. I agree with all the points and he didn’t just harp on global warming. He also admitted there was no “silver bullet” and spoke of useable energy as opposed to available energy.

If their engineers are as good as the presenter hydro power make be getting a new look very soon.

  3. This foolhardy installation is going to put a real slur on the regenerative energy field.
Being in it’s infancy, a major shipping disaster and loss of life will put a permanent damper on attempts to garner electricity from the sea.
These submerged torpedos are doomed and when it happens you’ll see my posts all over.
    ” I told you so ”

The plethora of reasons this is doomed are cited in full on page 25 of my alternative to this disaster waiting to happen. Here is a brief quote,

” A final note in closing; after building this site I decided to go check the competition in the wave energy field . My assumptions were proven correct; THERE IS NO COMPETITION !! I researched every other current online attempt at extracting electricity from the ocean, (see links) and found each of them to be sorely handicapped and puny in comparison to the Area A and Area B OSMEGS Ram concepts.

The one largest single flaw they all share is that it appears as if the designers have all gotten into the water to play with their toys in the bathtub and have produced items that would make great gifts if Mattel ever went into production, but as seagoing vessels many of them won’t last out their first year. Lesson Number One; The Sea is a cruel mistress.
Lesson number two; repeat as needed !
A person does NOT design an item to go into the water that will be impossible to maintain, keep clean, move, and keep working, against the massive elemental actions working against it; END OF STORY !!
Salt and sun will dissolve even high grade marine components such as rubber seals and protective coatings. Electrolysis will attack and eat almost all metals, and combinations of metals give the trickle charge battery that exists on man made vessels a real smorgasbord of items to feast on. If there’s a TURBINE connected to the vessel to boot, an Environmental Impact study may be in order. A non-conductive mounting would obviate a certain amount of the by-charge, but it will be impossible to isolate entirely. The electrolytic action will be fierce and the unwary, non believer, will find himself swimming before he knows it, and well before he’s ready. Seaweed will grow all over it and performance will become non existent. An unfortunate castaway who attempted to secure a sanctuary wouldn’t find anything whatsoever to assist him in that end, and coming upon one during a survival at sea situation would more than likely prove to be a danger
    than a salvation !

What good is that ? What good is having man-made structures with maintenance schedules and budgets, and co-ordinates at sea, that offer nothing to the survival of life in that inhospitable location ?!! . ”

The seriousness of our need to create green sustainable energy sources must not lead us into unwise operations.
If you find youself wondering what I’m talking about, go look over my presentation of O.S.M.E.G.S.,- Ocean Swell Momentum Electricity Generating Systems.
I shall gladly respond to any communications you wish to present.
    Thank You,

  4. Well, let’s see.
You are either for it or against it.
You will therefor either approve or dis apporove of me and everything I say.
Your first question of me is one that will lead to one form of judegement or another and will most likely lead you to discredit my OSMEGS based on your superficial interpretation of who I am and what I’ve designed based upon your reaction to the answer I give you. By complying to your shallow inquiry about my religious inclination you will deftly and succinctly pigeon hole me into your world in one form or another and completely miss the point of my presentation.
    So,
    on that basis;
I’m not going to tell you, because it is not pertinent to my OSMEGS presentation.
Do you have a question that doesn’t lead to your pigeon coop?

  5. Pardon me? I wish to know more aobut you to perhaps understand you position.

Your word are plentiful, the meaning is missing. You say everything in absolutes as if there is only fact or fiction. In reality there is now and later. You seem to attempt to educate but you do not elucidate.

I think you just want attention. You about 13 years old are you?

  6. OSMEGS: I took a long look at your website and I have looked at OPD, and I can say that I find most of your claims about their system baseless, your website does nothing to convince me your idea is even half as good as theirs. Please don’t use our community to spout your crazy assertions, if you feel your product is better then promote your product, if you feel their product has a specific flaw, state your argument as such.

It seems you have a vendetta against them because you feel they are in competition with you, if that is the case use your own website to spout off about how they suck. Until you can come to the table with a little more comprehensive data, and perhaps a website that doesn’t look like a crazy person made it, and any sort of data that shows your product has merit don’t expect to convert many people to your cause.

  7. HEY !!
One guy wants to judge me because of my religion, another wants to trash my commentary because of HIS interpretation of my motives.
    SPOUT!??
    CRAZY ASSERTIONS ??!
    VENDETTA ??
    A CRAZY PERSON ??!!
    13 YEARS OLD??!~

    WTF ??
    Show me your websites fool.
    Oh and GFY

  8. I think I just figures out what GFY means.

So very witty of you, OSMEGS. Are you also the Rev?

Why do you use two aliases?

  9. FYI:
If you take a look at:
    http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=wind+wave+turbine&search=Search
where I have video clip do demonstrate thaat it can be used as “wave device” conversion.
I made several models for wind tunnel testing.
    14″ diameter 3″ height. —> 2.60W at 10m/s
    21″ diameter 3″ height. —> 6.84W at 10m/s
They are real outputs —- (“Not rated”).
You can imagine how much power you can get from water (~1000 time the density).
Please give me a note if you want more ino.
    Thanks.
    PT.

  10. OKAY MR ‘THE NAIB’
I QUOTE YOU FROM ABOVE SO THAT I MAY REMIND YOU OF YOUR INSOLENCE AND YOUR OBVIOUS NEED TO RETRACT YOUR FLIMSY IMMATURE ATTACK ON ME.

SINCE YOU MAY NOT HAVE KEPT ABREAST OF YOUR UNINFORMED PLATFORMS MAY I JUST REFER YOU DIRECTLY TO THE PAGE WHICH CITES THE COLLAPSE, FAILURE AND REMOVAL OF THE “OPD” MENTIONED ABOVE.

    OR TO BE MORE SPECIFIC I QUOTE;

Portugal’s Pelamis Wave Power Project Killed
“Pelamis installed three energy converters off the Portuguese coast in September, and planned to add 22 more for a total of capacity of 21 MW, or enough energy to power 15,000 homes. The initial three converters had to be removed in December, though, following leaks in the buoyancy tanks. A slew of more technical problems followed, and eventually Pelamis lost its financial backing.

A Pelamis spokesman claims that they go back online “as soon as things are resolved”–a claim that leads us to believe the project is kaput. Offshore power–whether wave or wind–isn’t cheap, and Pelamis’ funding problem shows that perhaps its golden years have yet to come.”
