London Bombings

So England is now the unlucky recipient of a terrorist attack. After the horror of the attack wears off England is going to have to ask itself how it will respond. Will Tony Blair respond the way Bush did, by locking down freedoms and turning the U.K. into another America… I sure hope not. The English people should be asked to do more than “keep shopping”. They have an opportunity now to show the world that just because some crazy people plant some bombs they, the English people, are not going to degenerate into an Orwellian police state. The people of London survived the Blitz, and multiple traumas of World War 2 with dignity and common sense. Lets hope that the current events don’t spawn another “war on terror” or the British equivalent of the P.A.T.R.I.O.T. act. People of England, we suffer with you. We understand that you are angry, and scared. The American people have gone through this trauma before. However, please LEARN from our mistakes. React to violence with hope, fight terror with love, don’t be tempted to create a homeland security, color coded alert, Iraq war, P.A.T.R.I.O.T. act, war on terror, neo-con, insanity. An eye for an eye leaves everyone blind.

  1. I live in London and fortunately was at home at the time of the bombs, though they were less than 2 miles away.
I seriously doubt the Brits will be tempted to hoist anything like the Patriot Act. They’re a far more worldly bunch here and very accustomed to living wtih ethical diversity. Besides they’ve had many bombings here before, mainly from the IRA. And while this one was truly bad I think the Brits are well equipped to manage it without resorting to draconian tactics.

Having said that there’s debate going on now about a national identity card that will carry loads of personal information on a chip.

  2. I am glad to hear that the people of London will not be ruled by the base emotions. I saw in the news today that the mayor of london is taking the tube. That my friend is amazing. I would have loved to see G. W. walking unguarded into a subway station to go to work, just to show that he really belives the things he is saying. But alas America doesnt work like that. But give us time we will work these things out. thanks for visiting the site i hope you found it useful. Stay safe, and good luck with rebuilding and good tidings.
